James "Red" Lester Weir

CHESTER Mr. James Lester ?Red? Weir, 84, died Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at his residence.The funeral will be 4:00 PM Friday, August 19, 2011 at New Hope United Methodist Church with Rev. Lois Helms and Rev. Irvin Plowden officiating ministers.The family will receive friends from 6:00 ? 8:00 Thursday at Barron Funeral Home. Born September 29, 1926 in Chester County, Mr. Weir was a son of the late Leonard Huff Weir and Mamie Anderson Weir Feaster.He attended Chester County Schools and was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church.He was the Fire Chief for West Chester Fire Department from 1962-2011. He is survived by his wife Lucy Walton Woods Weir one son, Jody Weir and his wife Angie of Chester; two daughters, Judieth Ann Weir McLean and husband Daniel of Chester and Virginia Lynn ? Ginny?Weir Thomas and her husband Jason of Chester; one grandson, Richard Stephen Talbert of Chester and one granddaughter, Atha Kay Weir of Chester.He is preceded in death by two brothers, Leonard Weir and Pete Weir and two sisters, Marion Lee and Janie Bickett.
