CHESTER, SC: Mr. James Wesley Laws, 76, died Friday, April 13, 2018 at his home.The funeral service will be 2:00 PM Monday, April 16, 2018 at Barron Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Shaffer officiating.The interment will follow in Chester Memorial Gardens.The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM Monday, April 16, 2018 at Barron Funeral Home. Born February 5, 1942 in Chester, SC, Mr. Laws was a son of the late Roy and Nellie Smith Laws.He attended the schools of Chester County and was retired from Springs Industries as a fixer and also retired from South Carolina Department of Transportation.He was a member of Saluda Street Church of God.Jim enjoyed singing and dancing and exploring the beach.He was preceded in death by three brothers, David, Pete and Wallace Laws and one sister, Katherine Watkins. He is survived by his wife of thirty-eight years, Edith Shugart Laws; children, Tracy Laws Roof (Donald) of Chester, Jackie Laws Roof (Danny) of Chester, Jodi Laws Locklear (Wayne) of Salisbury, NC, David M. Sanders (Tammy) of Chester, James W. “Buddy” Laws, Jr. (Jennifer) of Chester, Elizabeth “Liz” Sanders of Chester and Meredith Laws Faircloth (Steven) of Manteo, NC; twenty-two grandchildren and twenty-four great grandchildren; two sisters, Beatrice Skinner and Diane Lawsand one brother, Johnny Laws all of Chester.
