James Wilbur Harker

Richburg Mr. James Wilbur Harker, 82, died Thursday, December 14, 2017, at Springs Memorial Hospital.A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, December 18, 2017 at Chester Memorial Gardens with Rev. Carole Walters officiating.The family will receive friend immediately following the service at the graveside and other times at the home of Lynda and Neal Counterman. Mr. Harker was born December 5, 1935 in East Liverpool, Ohio and was a son of the late Ralph and Mary Shank Harker.He was a graduate of the schools of Salineville, Ohio and Rock Hill Business College.Mr. Harker was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean War as a paratrooper.He was retired from Celanese as a warehouse manager.Mr. Harker was a member of Chester Masonic Lodge #18, Hejaz Shrine Club and the Chester Shrine Club.He was umpire for Dixie Youth Baseball for many years and also served on the Fire Commission Board.Mr. Harker was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. He is survived by three children, Lynda Harker Counterman (Neal) of Richburg, Leah Harker Stevenson (Dale) of Richburg and Larry Harker (Pamela) of Rock Hill; three step children, Teresa Corder, Donnie Roof (Gail) and Debbie Millwood (Mike) all of Chester; ten grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren, two brothers, Ralph Harker, Jr. of East Liverpool, OH and Howard Harker of Salineville, OH; one sister, Jean Owens of SDalineville, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews.Mr. Harker was twice married, first to Carol Elliott Harker and later to Betty Wade Harker.
