James Edward Dorsey

Lawndale, NC Mr. James Edward Dorsey, Sr., 82, died April 1, 2013 at his residence.A celebration of life will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at Myrtle United Methodist Church in Gastonia, NC with Rev. Jay Dorsey and Bishop Darrel Croft officiating.The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary of the church. Born January 1, 1931 in Gaston County, NC, Mr. Dorsey was a son of the late Chrisley and Alma Totherow Dorsey.He attended Myrtle High School in Gastonia, NC and was retired from Hagan-Kennan Oil Company and was also an evangelist having preached for over forty years.He was a member of Myrtle United Methodist Church and the widower of Nellie Carol Perkins Dorsey and Margaret Rumfelt Dorsey. He is survived by two sons, James E. “Jay” Dorsey, Jr. of Blackstock, SC and Ronald Carrol “Ron” Dorsey of Lawndale, NC; seven sisters, Dorothy Henderson of Asheboro, NC, Alberta Taylor, Caleen Hawkins and Carol June Leonhardt all of Lincolnton, NC, Shelby Ellis of Lenoir, NC, Mary Lee Smith of Rocky Mount, NC andRosalee Shuford of Greenville, SC; two brothers, Chrisley Corsey, Jr. of Cherryville, NC and William R. Dorsey of Vale, NC and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by two sisters, Geneva Ramsey and Edna Joyce Dorsey.
