James Samuel "Sam" Cook

Chester Mr. James Samuel “ Sam” Cook, 58, died Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at his home. A memorial service will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Barron Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Greene officiating. The family will receive friends 10:00 am to 11:00 am Saturday, June 1st at Barron Funeral Home, 133 Wylie St. Chester, SC 29706. Interment is private. Mr. Cook was born November 13, 1960 in Lancaster, SC and was a son of the late James Clifton Cook and Pauline Christine Roberts Cook. He was a graduate of Lancaster High School, and was retired owner/operator of Cooks Construction. Sam enjoyed planting flowers, decorating for Christmas, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. He was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his wife of over 35 years, Marian Elizabeth “Beth” Kimbrell Cook; one son Samuel James Cook of Kershaw, SC; four grandchildren, Preston James Cook, of Lancaster, SC, Madison Elizabeth Cook of Camden, SC, Melody Marie Cook and Raylen Lee Cook of Kershaw, SC; three brothers, Danny Cook ( Alice) , William Cook and Cecil Cook ( Renee) all of Lancaster, SC; three sisters, Shirley Norris of Aynor, SC, Sara Lynn Cook ( Reuben) of Lakeview, SC and Dora Jane Lucas ( Alvin) of Kershaw, SC; numerous nieces and nephews; niece Francis Waters of Spartanburg, SC whom he loved as a daughter. Memorials may be made to Relay for life, C/O Christy Wilburn 587 Lakenglen Rd, Chester, SC 29706. Please designate on check for whom the memorial is given.
