James Ross Cameron Jr.

Mr. James Ross Cameron ,Jr. , died Monday, January 16, 2023 at MUSC Health Chester Nursing Center. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at Barron Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Bishop officiating. Interment will follow in Chester Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Wednesday at Barron Funeral Home. Mr. Cameron was born May 18, 1931 in Chester, SC and was a son of the late James Ross Cameron, Sr. and Sarah Wylie Cameron. He attended Oakley Hall School in Chester, SC and worked for many years with Springs Industries and also with Shugart Manufacturing. Ross was an avid fisherman and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served during the Korean War, he was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his wife of over 63 years, Virginia Roof Cameron; three sons, Jerald Gaston (Lorie) , Larry “Ace” Gaston and Charles Gaston all of Chester, SC; three grandchildren and and six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dora Caston of Greenwood, SC and Daisy Sloan of Richburg, SC ;several nieces and nephews.
