James Hilliard "Chick" Anderson: Chester, SC: On Sunday, July 24, 2022, James H. (Chick) Anderson died at the age of 93 at Prisma Health Richland. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at First Baptist Church with Reverend Clay Waldrip officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at Barron Funeral Home from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Mr. Anderson was born in Chester, South Carolina on March 23, 1929 and was the son of the late Frank Wesley Anderson and Belle Gladden Anderson. He was a graduate of Chester High School and attended Clemson College and has been a member of IPTAY since 1957. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served with the Army Engineers during the Korean War. Chick was retired from Cone Mills, Carlisle plant as an area superintendent Chick was an active member of First Baptist Church, Chester where he served as president and treasurer of the Agoga Sunday School Class, chairman of ushers, chairman of building and grounds committee, chairman of renovation committee, and served as a deacon. He was an avid supporter of Boy Scout Troop 64 at First Baptist Church. He was a member of the Chester Civitan Club and Chester Moose Lodge. He was a life member of the Chester Men’s Golf Association, the Chester Masonic Lodge, and the Chester Jaycees. He served as president of Dixie Youth baseball, Chester baseball Pony league and Colt league. Chick was also a member of a motorcycle club in Chester and the Harley Owners’ Group (HOG) of America, the Antique Motorcycle Club of America and the American Legion Post 27 Riders group. He was also a part of the "Let's Ride For Jesus" and won the oldest riders award several years. Chick loved God, he loved his family and he loved his Clemson Tigers. Chick was preceded in death by his wife of over sixty-one years, Jessie Colvin Anderson, his sister, Joy Cowart, and his brothers, Moffatt and Frank Anderson. He is survived by two daughters, Beth Branham of Lexington, SC, and Robbie (Andy) Tweito of Six Mile, SC; two sons, Robert (Rebecca) Anderson of Laurens, SC and Jimmy (Shelli) Anderson of Summerfield, NC; six grandchildren, Chris Branham (Jessica), Will Branham (Randi), Andrew Tweito, Jake Tweito (Logan), James Anderson (Francesca) and Jessie Broome (Stephen) ; six great-grandchildren, Eli, Isabelle, Anderson, Anders, Law and Hunt and numerous nieces and nephews.
