Mr. Jack Junior Scates, 80, 31 East White Street died Thursday, October 30, 2008, at Chester Regional Medical Center. The funeral will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Barron Funeral Home with Reverend James Sanders officiating.Interment will be in Sunny Side Baptist Church Cemetery in Bessemer City, NC. Born January 31, 1928 in Gaffney, S.C., Mr. Scates was a son of the late Ode and Annie Odell Phillips.He attended schools of Gaffney, SC and was of the Baptist Faith. He is survived by his wife Gertrude C. Scates; five sons, Ed, David, Bobby, Doug, and Tim Scates all of Chester, SC; two daughters, Shelia Aiken of Chester, SC and Tammy Hudson of Forrest City, NC; eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.He is preceded in death by a daughter Vickie Flynn. The family will receive friends from 6:00 ? 7:30 Friday at Barron Funeral Home, 133 Wylie Street, Chester and other times at 31 East White Street.
