CHESTER: Mr. Jack Ansley Darby, 91, died Monday, March 21, 2016 at the Chester Regional Nursing Center.The funeral service will be 3:00 P.M. Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Dan Sullivan, Pastor Ronnie Greene and Rev. Terry Fowler officiating.The interment will be at Chester Memorial Gardens with full Military Honors and Masonic Rites. The family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. – 3:00 P.M. Thursday, March 24, 2016 in the social hall of the church. Born November 16, 1924 in Chester, SC, Mr. Darby was a son of the late Banks Ansley Darby and Catherine Adelsheimer Darby and the widower of Nell Bigham Darby.Mr. Darby was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during WWII at the Battle of the Bulge.He was retired from Springs Industries. He was a member of Wesley MemorialUnited Methodist Church and a life member of the Chester Masonic Lodge #18 and was a member of Scottish Rite and Hejaz Shrine and a former member of the American Legion. He is survived by one son, Richard V. “Ricky” Darby (Wanda) of Chester; four daughters, Linda Darby and Jackie Bailey (Brian) both of Chester, Judy Buchanan (Ken) of Lugoff, SC and Marlene Campbell (Tom) of Denver, NC; ten grandchildren, Brandon, Holly, Carrie, Michael, Erica, Kristen, Brittany, Andrew, Heather and Victoria; thirteen great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. Memorials may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church, 1217 J.A. Cochran By-Pass, Chester, SC 29706.
