Mrs. Ida Elizabeth Shaw “Betty” Nash, 89, formerly of Pineview Lakes, Chester, SC, died Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, SC.The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Sunday, June 26, 2016 at Barron Funeral Home.The funeral service will be 11:00 Monday, June 27, 2016 at Bethel United Methodist Church with Rev. Eric Shepard officiating. The interment will be at Chester Memorial Gardens. Born September 9, 1926 in Bracey, VA, Mrs. Nash was a daughter of the late William Hubbard Shaw and Ida Crowder Shaw.She was a graduate of LaCrosse High School in LaCrosse, VA and was a homemaker.She formerly worked with Southern Baptist Foreign Mission Board in Richmond, VA.She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Pete Wylie Sunday School Class and also United Methodist Women.Mrs. Nash was also a member of the D.A.R. Mary Adair Chapter and Dogwood Garden Club and the Diversity Study Club.She was a member of the same Bridge Club for forty-five years.She was also a volunteer for Chester County Hospital for over twenty-five years and formerly a cub scout den mother. Mrs. Nash was an avid gardener who loved the outdoors.She loved sports, especially following both of her son’s baseball careers.She also enjoyed stamp collecting. Mrs. Nash was the widow of Robert James “Bob” Nash, Sr. She is survived by two sons, Robert James “Jim” Nash, Jr.and his wife Rachel of Chester, SC and William Evans “Bill” Nash and his wife Nicki of Edgemoor, SC; six grandchildren, Laura Nash Moran and her husband Patrick of Woodstock, GA, Jason Stuart Nash and his wife Nikki of Washington, PA, Evan Bennett Nash of Rock Hill, SC, Brady Edward Nash of Rock Hill, SC, Rorie James Amos and Addie McBrayer Amos both of Edgemoor, SC also six nephews and five nieces.She was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers. Memorials may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, PO Box 751, Chester, SC 29706.
