Hugh Wylie Orr

Hugh Wylie Orr, 90, died Monday, November 4, 2024, at his home.  A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, November 7, 2024, at Chester ARP Church with Rev. Clint Davis and Dr. Dwight Pearson officiating.  Interment will be private.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM Thursday in the Barron Room of the church.

Mr. Orr was born October 1, 1934 in Chester, SC and was a son of the late Robert H. Orr and Agnes McGarity Orr.  He was a graduate of Chester High School.  He worked many years a a milkman having worked with Edisto, Coburg and Sealtest Milk Companies and then moved on to GAF where he retired. He was a member of Chester ARP Church.  Hugh Wylie was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting and anything to do with gardening and keeping up his yard.

He is survived by his son, Russell Orr (Kim) of Chester; grandsons, Colt Orr and Rodney Orr (Jenny) both of Chester; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Orr of Chester; and numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of over 51 years, Ruby Ernandez Orr; his son, Roger Hugh Orr; two brothers, Robert H. Orr, Jr. and Leslie Orr; and his sister, Lenore Orr Branham.

Memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church, 1660 Pleasant Grove Rd., Chester, SC 29706.
