Mr. Herbert Ray ?Red? Roof, Sr., 79, died Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at his residence.A memorialservice will be held 11:00 AM Friday, September 30, 2011 at Barron Funeral Home with Rev. James Sanders officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 ? 11:00 AM Friday at Barron Funeral Home. Born May 25, 1932 in Chester, Mr. Roof is a son of the late Clarence Irvin Roof, Sr. and Omie Price Roof.He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War and attended First Freewill Baptist Church.He was employed with Coogler Oil Company for over thirty-five years and also worked with Denton Oil Company from which he retired. He is survived by his wife of over fifty-seven years, Dorothy Devaney Roof; three daughters, Rita R. Dodds and her husband Wayne of Chester, Anita R. Adimaro of Chester and Jodie R. Gibson and her fiancé Clint of Chester; two sons, Ray Roof and his wife Molly of Chester and Frankie Colvin of Chester; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two brothers, Gordon Roof and Frank Roof both of Chester; one sister, Louise Grant of Chester and his mother-in-law, Gladys L. Roden of Chester.He was preceded in death by one son, Danny Ray Roof and one great granddaughter, Caleigh Jordan Grant.
