CHESTER: Mrs. Helen Virginia Melton Smith, 88, died Saturday, September 17, 2016 at the Chester Regional Nursing Center.The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:30 PM Monday, September 19, 2016 at Barron Funeral Home.The funeral service will be 3:00 PM Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at the First Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Brian Howard officiating.The interment will be at Chester Memorial Gardens. Born February 26, 1928 in Winnsboro, SC, Mrs. Smith was the daughter of the late Walter Mack Melton and Ruby Foxworth Middleton.She attended the schools of Chester County, was retired from Essex Corporation and was a homemaker.Mrs. Smith was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene.Mrs. Smith was the widow of William Lee Smith. She is survived by one daughter, Helene Smith Young; two grandsons, Danny Dove of Chester, SC and Eddie Young and his wife Marsha of Lando, SC; six great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren and one brother, Walter Mack Melton, Jr. of Whitmire, SC; two special nieces whom she reared, Kathy Cassells of Rock Hill, SC and Shirley Roberts and her husband Mickey of Chester, SC.
