Helen Lineberger McManus, age 89, formerly of Chester, SC and a current resident of Emeritus at Chandler Place in Rock Hill, died Tuesday,August 12, 2014, at the home of her son, Major General Wade H.(Hamp) McManus, Jr., U.S. Army (Retired). A graveside service will be held 10:00 AM Thursday, August 14, 2014 at Chester Memorial Gardens with Rev. Clay Waldrip officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00PM Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Barron Funeral Home in Chester. Born in Chester County, Mrs. McManus was born to the late Jake and Maud Gaston Lineberger, and was preceded in death by her six brothers and four sisters, her husband, Wade H. McManus and her daughter, Linda M. White. She was a graduate of Chester High School and was retired from the State of South Carolina as a teacher’s aide.She was formerly co-owner and operator of McManus Grocery in Richburg, SC.Mrs. McManus was a devoted and longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Chester where she was active in many of the activities and ministries of the church and the Gleaners Sunday School Class. She is survived by her son, Major General Wade H. (Hamp) McManus, Jr. U.S. Army (Retired); four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
