Helen Shirley Aycoth CHESTER:Mrs. Helen Shirley Aycothdied Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, SC.She was 84. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday at West Side Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Wood and Rev. Lewis Vehaun officiating.Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Mrs. Aycoth was born in Chester County, SC on August 8, 1924, a daughter of The late James Belton and Zula Henrietta Hudspeth Shirley and resided in Union, SC from 1933-1943.She was a graduate of Union High School Class of 1941 and was retired as a telephone operator with Chester Telephone Co.She was a member of West Side Baptist Church.Mrs. Aycoth enjoyed flower gardening and mowing the lawn.She was also a fan of football and basketball. She was the widow of Woodrow ?Woody? Aycoth, her husband of fifty-six years. She is survived byPhyliis S. Varnadore and Margaret V. Owens who were like daughters to her; and Donnie Varnadore also like a son;a host of other nieces and nephews; and cousins. She was preceded in death by a sister, Edith Shirley Varnadore and a brother, J.W. Shirley. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 8:00 Friday evening at Barron Funeral Home.
