Chester Mrs. Hazel Elizabeth Hampton Wilks, 85, died Sunday, May 22, 2016 at her home.A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, May 25, 2016, at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. David Sealy officiating.Interment will follow at Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Barron Funeral Home and other times at her daughter’s home, Donna Dill. Born February 2, 1931, Mrs. Wilks was a daughter of the late James G. Hampton and Nora E. (Hampton) Hampton and was the widow of Fred Ervin Wilks. She attended Chester High School and was a homemaker.Mrs. Wilks was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and also a choir member.Hazel was a dedicated gospel music fan and was well versed in gospel music history.She served on the West Chester Community Center Board and also had an amazing memory for family heritage and community facts.A beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and a true and faithful friend. Mrs. Wilks is survived by one daughter, Donna Wilks Dill (Bob) of Hayden, AL; two sons, Roger Wilks (Harriet) and Terry Wilks (Linda) both of Chester, SC; Daughter-In-Law, Brenda Wilks of Chester, SC; eight grandchildren, Jason Wilks (Tonya), Amy Y. Jones (Kevin), Paige McKeown (J. Wriley), Whit Fleming (Alicia), Lacy Caskey, Olivia Buffington (Matt), Rian Wilks and Avery Wilks; eleven great-grandchildren, Wriley, Emma Kate, Tyler, Britt, McKenna, Michael, Ford, Caroline, McKenzie, John Crawford, and Levi;three sisters, Iris Bostic of Madison, MS, Melba Thomasand Norma Jean Morrison both of Chester, SC.She was preceded in death by one son, Crawford E. Wilks; three brothers, Don Hampton, Gordon “Corney” Hampton and Wayne Hampton; one sister, Naomi Williams; and a Son-In-Law, Herb Railey.
