Chester: Hassan A. Hamid of Chester, died Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at Agape` Rehab in Rock Hill, SC. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday July 30, 2010, at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery with Reverend Linda Jenkins officiating. Born in Iraq,Mr. Hamid was a son of the late Hamid, Ali- Bayati and Saman Haider. He received his PHD from the University of Georgia and was a teacher at the University of Auburn, Winthrop College, and the University of South Carolina, Columbia. He is survived by his wife Vashtie Hamid; one daughter Shireen A. Hamid Orr of Brunswick, Ga.; one grandson Kai Orr. The family will receive friends following the graveside service at the church.
