Chester Rev. Harry Lee McCraven, Sr., 77, died Tuesday, May 15, 2018.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, May 18, at Saluda Street Church of God with Rev. Scott Vaughn and Mr. Daniel McCraven officiating.Interment will follow in Armenia United Methodist Church Cemetery.The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, May 17, at Barron Funeral Home, 133 Wylie St., Chester, SC. Mr. McCraven was born December 21, 1940 in Red River, SC and was a son of the late James McCraven and Dorothy Temple McCraven.He was a graduate of the schools of York County, SC and also Lee College in Cleveland, TN.Mr. McCraven was a veteran of the U.S. Army.He was a retired Church of God pastor for over 30 years having served churches in NC and SC.He attended Saluda Street Church of God and volunteered as a Sunday School teacher for local nursing homes.Rev. McCraven enjoyed golfing as his pastime. He is survived by his wife of over 28 years, Beulah Parker McCraven; six children, Daniel L. McCraven (Julie) of Chester, Drema Travis of Piedmont, Harry L. McCraven, Jr. of Lincolnton, NC, Ricky Michau (Faye) of Chester, John Michau of Chester and Shelia Oxendine (Greg) of Rock Hill; sixteen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; a brother, Tommy McCraven (Deborah) of Gladewater, TX; and a sister, Doris Bridges (Jimmy) of Simpsonville, SC.Rev. McCraven was preceded in death by a son, Willard Michau; a daughter, Susan Whitmire; a brother, Jimmy McCraven; and a sister, Betty Dabney. Memorials may be made to Saluda Street Church of God, P.O.
