Harold Dean Reeves

Mr. Harold Dean Reeves, 90, went to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday, January 20th, 2024. All are welcome to attend the Memorial Service at 3:00 pm Sunday January 28th, 2024, at First Baptist Church Chester with Dr. John Adams officiating. The family will receive friends in the vestibule of the church immediately following the service. He was born October 15, 1933, in Kershaw SC and was the son of the late Ernest Jefferson Reeves and Dorothy Whitley Reeves. Deanie served his country in the United States Army. Deanie attended Wingate University earning a degree in business. He spent twenty five years as the manager of quality control with Springs Industries and many years with West Point Stevens until his retirement. Deanie was a devoted husband, father, pappy and friend to all who knew him. There wasn’t anything he would not do for his children and grandchildren. In his earlier years, he was an avid golfer. He enjoyed gathering with family during the holidays, summer beach trips, working in his yard and Gamecock sports. Deanie was an enthusiast of all sports and could be found on any given day or evening watching whoever was playing. While attending Kershaw High School, he played basketball and football. He was a valuable member of the 1951 Kershaw High School football team where the first State Championship was won with an 11-0 season. Deanie was a member of First Baptist Church Chester for 62 years where he served as Deacon, Chairman of Deacons and Chairman of the Finance Committee. He was a member of the Adult II Sunday School Class and Monday Morning Connect Group. Deanie was active with Operation Christmas Child and the church’s food bank. Deanie was active with Chester Senior Center where he enjoyed storytelling, playing spinner and sharing a meal with friends. Deanie is survived by his loving children who were with him during his short illness; daughter, Dena Reeves Green (Matt) of Easley, SC and son, Hal Reeves of Kennesaw, GA; grandchildren, Collin Green (Taylor) of Charleston, SC, Madison Green of Easley, SC, Lawson Reeves and Avery Reeves both of Marietta, GA, Caroline Reeves of Kennesaw, GA; and great grandchild, Miller Green of Charleston, SC. Deanie was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Glenda Hawkins Reeves, two brothers and two sisters.
