Chester Mr. Gordon Neely Roof, Jr., 58, died Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, SC.A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at First Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Brian Howard officiating.The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at the First Church of the Nazarene. Born January 30, 1959 in Chester, SC, he was a son of Gordon Neely Roof, Sr. and the late Diane Williams Green.Mr. Roof attended the schools of Chester County and was formerly employed with Essex Corporation and was a member of First Church of the Nazarene.Neely enjoyed training and riding horses.He was also a dog trainer and was instrumental in starting the K-9 Unit for the Chester Police Department.He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and dirt track racing. In addition to his father, Mr. Roof is survived by his wife of over 27 years, Darlene C. Roof; one daughter, Mikayla Cheyenne Roof of Union, SC; one brother, Randy Roof of Chester, SC; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by two brothers, Mitchell Roof and Tony Roof; a sister-in-law, Pat Roof; and a niece, Amanda Roof.
