Chester Mrs. Gladys Smith Peay, 76, died Friday, August 5, 2016, at Palmetto Health Richland in Columbia.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, August 8, 2016, at Barron Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Taylor officiating.Interment will follow in Chester Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, August 7, at Barron Funeral Home, 133 Wylie St., Chester, SC. Mrs. Peay was born April 10, 1940 in Chester County, SC and was a daughter of the late Albert James Smith and Alma Grace Ferrell Smith.She was a graduate of Chester High School and was self-employed as a companion care sitter.She enjoyed working and tending her flowers.Mrs. Peay was a member of First Church of the Nazarene. She is survived by one daughter, Cathy D. Torbert of Chester; one son, Kenneth Norman Peay of Chester; two brothers, James Wallace Smith of Chester and Billy Hamilton Smith of Greenville; three sisters, Helen Faye Smith McCameron , Peggy M. Morrison and Becky I. Darby all of Chester; two grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.Mrs. Peay was preceded in death by her husband, William Kenneth Peay; two sisters, Catherine Farlow and Lucille Chapman; and two brothers, Albert J.
