Rock Hill Mr. Gerald David Sloan, 73, died Monday, May 23, 2016, at his home.A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Barron Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Hinson officiating.Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at Barron Funeral Home. Born August 3, 1942, he was a son of the late Rev. James B. Sloan and Amanda Jane (Leverett) Sloan.Mr. Sloan attended the schools of Spartanburg and Chester Counties.He was formerly employed with Springs Industries. Mr. Sloan is survived by one daughter, Betty Gail Nicholls (Jared) of Chester, SC; four sons, Dwayne Sloan (Stacie) of Rock Hill, SC, David Sloan and Roger Dale Sloan both of Chester, SC and John B. Sloan of Rock Hill, SC; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lonnie Sloan (Kay) of Chester, SC and John Sloan (Sandy) of Jacksonville, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann (Miller) Sloan; one brother, Jimmy Sloan; one sister, Suzie Sloan; and one grandchild.
