Georgia Louise Sojourner Demont

CHESTER, SC: Mrs. Georgia Louise Sojourner DeMont, 104, died Saturday, March 18, 2017 at the Chester Regional Nursing Center.A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Monday, March 20, 2017at Chester Memorial Gardens with Rev. Michael Shaffer officiating.The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the graveside. Born September 20, 1912 in Denmark, SC, Mrs. DeMont was a daughter of the late Nathaniel Walker Sojourner and Georgia Robinson Coleman Sojourner and the widow of Forrest R. DeMont.Mrs. DeMont was a graduate of Denmark High School and attended Winthrop College and was a graduate of School of Nursing Medical College of SC at Charleston where she receiveda Bachelor of Science in nursing. Mrs. DeMont was a retired school nurse with Chester County School System and a member of Bethel United Methodist Church.Mrs. DeMont spent many of the latter years of her life as caregiver to her daughter Toni and her husband Forrest.She also was delighted to be a mentor to her grandchildren. Mrs. DeMont is survived by two grandchildren, Forrest Ford Batson and Jessica Batson Darby and her husband Tommyboth of Chester; three great grandchildren, Forrest W. Batson, Riley Darby and Houston Darby all of Chester; one son-in-law, Arthur T. “Bucky” Weir, Jr. of Chester and two nephews, David Ballard of Lancaster, SC and Bob Ballard of Rock Hill, SC.In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Louise Anthony “Toni” DeMont Weir and a sister Mary S.
