He is survived by his loving wife, Judy Patricia Loving Taylor, of 56 years, his son George Creighton Taylor, daughter-in-law Lisa Thomas Taylor, grandson George Creighton Coleman Taylor, and his sister Lounette Dickens. Additionally, Buck is remembered fondly by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who were touched by his warmth and kindness.
Buck's life was a testament to his love for the great outdoors. He found solace in the fields and forests, pursuing his passions for hunting and fishing. In addition to his love for the great outdoors, Buck had a special place in his heart for dogs. Though he had many throughout his life, he is survived by his granddog, Prez, known affectionately by Buck as "Big Red." A man of simple pleasures, he took joy in spending quality time with his family, creating lasting memories that will be forever cherished.
Buck was a long-time member of Cool Branch Baptist Church. He was also a proud member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), demonstrating his commitment to supporting his fellow veterans until his health prevented him from attending meetings. Buck's selfless service and dedication to others were evident in every aspect of his life.
Buck's legacy is further enriched by his honorable service to his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1965 to 1968. Displaying courage and dedication, he rose to the rank of Specialist 4th Class, serving as an Equipment Engineer. Buck's commitment to his military duties reflected his unwavering sense of duty and loyalty to his fellow servicemen. His service in the armed forces not only demonstrated his patriotism but also exemplified the values of discipline and sacrifice that he carried with him throughout his life. The experiences and camaraderie forged during his military service remained a source of pride for Buck, and his contributions to the defense of freedom will be remembered with gratitude and respect.
His love for Southern gospel and country music and his fondness for the classic TV show "The Andy Griffith Show" reflected his appreciation for the simple joys in life. Buck's heart swelled with pride for his family, and he took immense pleasure in witnessing the achievements of his son and grandson. He was a pillar of support, offering guidance and encouragement to those he held dear.
As we bid farewell to Buck, let us remember the laughter he shared, the love he gave, and the indelible mark he left on the hearts of those who knew him. May his spirit continue to inspire us to cherish our time with loved ones, appreciate the beauty of nature, and find joy in life's simple pleasures.
