Charlotte, NC Mr. Gene Anderson McWatters, 76, died Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at Hospice of Union County.A memorial service will be held at 5:00 PM Sunday, January 28, 2018, at Orrs Baptist Church with Rev. Randall Runion officiating.Interment will be private.The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM Sunday in the sanctuary of the church. Mr. McWatters was born December 20, 1941 in Chester, SC and was a son of the late James McWatters and Jeanette Quinton McWatters.He attended Oakley Hall School.Mr. McWatters was retired as a truck driver for Kitty Hawk Express but drove for many other companies.He enjoyed playing the guitar and singing with family and friends.Gene also enjoyed any type of motorsports.He was a member of Orrs Baptist Church. He is survived by two sons, Kem McWatters (Susan) and Brian McWatters (Tonya) both of Fort Lawn; one daughter, Jennifer M. Reavis (Andy) of Lake Wylie; three grandchildren, Casey Reavis of Lake Wylie, Owen McWatters of Fort Lawn and Brittany Gardner (Jimmy) of Rock Hill; two brothers, Grady McWatters (Ann) of Gilbert and Harold McWatters of Richburg; two sisters, Minnie McWatters of Richburg and Eva M. Simmens (Danny) of Catawba; and numerous nieces and nephews.Mr. McWatters was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Martha Mae Woods McWatters and a son, James Darren McWatters.
