Gary Oneal Windham, Sr.

Chester Gary Oneal Windham, Sr., 72, died Saturday, January 6, 2024, at MUSC Medical Center Charleston. A private family service will be held at a later date. Gary was born August 18, 1951 in Chester County, SC and was a son of the late Clarence Virgil Windham and Lillian Varnadore Windham. He attended the schools of Chester County. Gary was a retired painter having worked with the Chester County School District. He was a hard worker who was devoted to his family and loved them dearly. He is survived by three children, Leigh Ann Windham (Terry) of Chester, Jennifer W. Johnson (Robert) of Chester and Gary O. Windham, Jr. (Rebecca) of Morrow, OH; seven grandchildren, Trenton Windham, Garner Schutt, Victoria Jade Flores, Devin Johnson (Samantha), Cassie Box, Charles Milton Mills, III and Gary O. Windham, III; eight great grandchildren; three sisters, Doris Beam of Chester, Bonnie Windham of Lancaster and Linda Smith of Chester; one brother, Ronnie Windham of Chester; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Brenda A. Windham; a brother, Clarence Virgil “Butch” Windham, Jr.; and a sister, Joyce Parker.
