Ormand Beach, FL Mr. Fred Tazewell Phillips, Jr., 83, died Monday, June 29, 2015, at his home in Florida.A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 18, 2015, at Bethlehem United Methodist Church cemetery in Blackstock, SC with Reverend Steve Bishop officiating Mr. Phillips was born December 18, 1931 in Bluefield, West Virginia and was a son of the late Fred Tazewell Phillips, Sr. and Gladys Cole Phillips.He was a graduate of Miami High School and the University of Florida.Mr. Phillips was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served as a Ranger.He retired from the Georgia Boot Company and was a member of Riverview United Methodist Church in Ormand Beach, Fl.He as an avid outdoorsman, bird watcher and ornithologist who had a life-long passion for the characteristics and habits of birds. He is survived by one daughter, Cynthia N. Woodruff (Woody) of Darlington, SC; one son, Michael Nalley (Patti) of Mason, Ohio; four grandchildren; one brother, Douglas Phillips (Liza) of Travelers Rest, SC; and six nieces and nephews.Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by his wife, Velma Johnson Phillips, a grandson and a brother.
