Mr. Fred William Holmes, Sr, 77, of 134 Hamilton Street died Sunday, September 13, 2009 at Providence Hospital in Columbia, SC. The funeral service will be 4:00 PM Tuesday at Barron Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Shealy officiating.Interment will be in Chester Memorial Gardens. Born May 4, 1932 in Clover, SC, Mr. Holmes was the son of the late Campbell and Florence Warren Holmes.He attended the schools of Clover and was retired from Milliken Textile as a maintenance supervisor.He was presently employed with Wal-mat in Rock Hill as a service writer for the automobile department.He was a member of Chester Masonic Lodge #18 and formerly served in the SC National Guard. He is survived by his wife, Lillie Mae Holmes; one son, Dale Holmes and his wife Tina of Richburg, SC; one daughter, Darlene H. Elkins of Chester; six grandchildren, Michele, Eric, Melissa, Joshua, Matthew and Andrew; three brothers, Lewis Holmes and Jackie Holmes both of Alabama and Gene Holmes of Gastonia, NC; one sister, Betty Becco of Newberry, SC.He was preceded in death by a son Fred W. Holmes, Jr and a daughter Teresa Kay Holmes. The family will receive friends from 6:00 ? 7:30 PM Monday at Barron Funeral Home, 133 Wylie Street, Chester.
