Richburg Mr. Francis Edward “Ed” Sharpe, 69, died Sunday, March 21, 2021, at his home.A memorial service for Mr. Sharpe will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Union ARP Church. The family will receive friends after the service. Mr. Sharpe was born January 17, 1952 in Petersburg, Virginia and was a son of the late Charles N. Sharpe, Jr. and Martha Wood Sharpe.He was a graduate of Colonial Heights High School, Colonial Heights, Virginia and attended Ferrum College and Campbell College.Ed retired from Lancaster and Chester Railroad.He was an active member of Union A.R.P. Church where he served as a Deacon.Ed served on the Richburg Town Council since 2002.He enjoyed a love of railroads since he was a child and, in fact, was an instrumental founding member of the Lancaster Chester Railway Museum.Ed was also a history enthusiast and a great photographer.He loved Brazil, the town of Richburg and his grandchildren.Ed was blessed with many talents none of which he kept to himself.He was always gracious in sharing the fruits of his talents with others and encouraging others to discover within themselves their own talents. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Ginger Parnell Sharpe; three children, Nicholas Ashby Davis Sharpe of Richmond, VA, M. Ritchie Sharpe (Heidi) of Fort Lawn, SC and Lauren Allison Sharpe of Charlotte, NC; three grandchildren, Mikayla Rivas, Hannah Sharpe and Madalynne Sharpe; two sisters, Sissy Sharpe (Max Reavis) of Chesterfield, VA and Cathy Sharpe Marlow (Mike DeWitt) of Granite Falls, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Lancaster Chester Railway Museum, 512 S. Main St., Lancaster, SC 29720. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.barronfuneralhome.com.
