Frances Melton Merritt

Marion, SC---Mrs. Frances Melton ?Peaches? Merritt, 71, died Saturday, March 20, 2010 at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence, SC. A graveside service will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, March 21, 2010 at Laurelwood Cemetery, Rock Hill, SC with Reverend Richard Jenkins officiating. Mrs. Merritt was born in Charleston, SC on February 2, 1939 a daughter of the late Lucius Hopkins Melton and Frances Adelaide Girardeau Melton. She was a graduate of Chester, High School and Columbia College and was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. Mrs. Merritt was a retired elementary school teacher having taught in Gaston, York, Chester and Horry Counties. She was a former principal of Country Day School in Chester County. She is survived by her husband, Brevard ?B? Merritt; one son, B.Merritt, III and his wife Tracie of Marion, SC; one daughter Sarah F. Merritt of Lucama, NC; four granddaughters, Samantha, Miranda, Hannah and Sophie Merritt and one brother, Bill Melton and his wife Lucy of Johns Island, SC.
