Frances Allen Carter

CHESTER:Frances Allen Carter, 87, died Monday, June 14, 2010 at Chester Regional Medical Center. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, June 19, 2010 at New Hope United Methodist Church with Reverend Irvin Plowden officiating.Interment will be in the church cemetery.The family will receive friends Friday, June 18, 2010 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Barron Funeral Home. Mrs. Carter was born August 20, 1922in Chester, SC a daughter of the late James Clarence Allen and Lillie Marie Grant Allen and the widow of Curtis B. Carter. She was a graduate of West Chester High School and a lifelong member of New Hope United Methodist Church where she was chairperson of worship and a teacher in Sunday School, Kindergarten and the Nursery.She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW, the American Legion and the Eastern Star. Mrs. Carter was retired from Springs Industries as a weaver. She is survived by one son, James B. Carter and his wife Arla of Chester; one daughter, Nancy C. Burrell and her husband Aaron of Chester, SC; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husband Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Allen Gregory. Memorials may be made to New Hope United Methodist Church ?Cemetery Fund? c/o Nancy C.
