Mrs. Frances Wilkes Bramlett Stephenson, 79, died Sunday, May 2, 2010 at Chester Regional Hospital. The funeral service will be 3:00 PM Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at First Baptist Church of Lowrys with Rev. Michael Shaffer, Rev. Den Parker and Rev. Wes Bramlett officiating.Interment will be in Armenia United Methodist Church Cemetery. Born March 8, 1931, in Fairfield County, SC, Mrs. Stephenson was a daughter of the late John Wesley Bramlett, Sr and Eunice Lucille Boulware Bramlett.She was a graduate of Chester High School and attended Winthrop College.Mrs. Stephenson was the wife of Frank Stephenson for over 60 years and a loving mother, and grandmother. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Lowrys where she served as Sunday school teacher, G.A. leader, church clerk and historian. As a member of the church, she wrote and directed the Christmas Cantatas as well as designed props and costumes since 1982.Frances was instrumental in planning the 100 year Celebration for First Baptist Church of Lowrys and the restoration of New Bethel Cemetery, the original location of the church. Also known as ?Mama Frances?, Mrs. Stephenson was the owner and operator of the Learning Bee Daycare in Chester where she provided loving care and direction to hundreds of children.Mrs. Stephenson was employed with Senior Services Inc. as Senior Companion Director for over 14 years and was chosen by her peers as 2001 SCAVA ?Volunteer Administrator of the Year.? Mr. and Mrs. Stephenson were founding members of the Chester County 4-H Horse Club and North Chester Saddle Club.The North Chester Amateur Rodeo, a Chester tradition since 1972, was held at her family farm where it brought together family, friends, and community. Surviving are her two daughters, Joyce S. Baker and husband Buddy and Nancy S. Stewart and husband Mack all of Chester; five grandchildren, Mary Baker Mobley and husband Clay of Fort Bragg, NC, Charles Eric Stewart and wife Kha, Stephanie Stewart Caston and husband Chris, Hope Baker and friend Brian Threatt, Whitney Baker Culton and husband Josh all of Chester; nine great grandchildren, Tyler Mobley, Gracyn Mobley and Zayn Mobley all of Fort Bragg, NC and Quinton Caston, Landon Caston, Evan Caston, Savannah Caston, Madysen Hope Baker and Taylor Culton all of Chester; one brother Frank Bramlett of Chester; three sisters, Ellen B. Clarke of Columbia, SC, Sara B. Metz of Greer, SC and Alice B. Rawls of Lake Murray, SC.She was preceded in death by a brother John W. Bramlett, Jr.She was the widow of Frank Hope Stephenson. The family will receive friends anytime after 1:00 PM Tuesday at the home, 1037 Tickle Hill Road, Chester.
