Ezra Nura West

Chester Mr. Ezra Nura West, 78, died Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at his home.The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 12, 2013, at Second Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Bishop officiating.Interment will follow in Chester Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM on Thursday, July 11, 2013, at Barron Funeral Home, 133 Wylie St., Chester, SC. Mr. West was born October 10, 1934 in Porterdale, Georgia and was a son of the late Dewey West and Mazie Allison West.He attended the schools of Georgia, was retired from Springs Industries as a warping instructor, and a member of Second Baptist Church.Mr. West was a volunteer and coordinator with the Chester Ministerial Association Food Pantry and a supporter of Omaha Boys Orphanage in Omaha, Nebraska. He is survived by his wife of more than 61 years, Esther Drawdy West; two daughters, Tracey West Roof and husband Mike of Chester and Terry West Watts and husband Ed of Columbia; one son, Ezra N. “Buddy” West, Jr. and wife Renee of Chester; four granddaughters, Nicole Roof Mason, Meredith Roof Yarborough, Neely Grant Quigley, and Cody Watts; three great-grandchildren, Avery Mason, Wells Mason, and Michael Mae Yarborough; and one sister, Evelyn Campbell of Anderson, SC.
