Rock Hill, SC : Mrs. Evelyn McDonald Rash, 83, formerly of Hilltop Acres, Chester, died Monday, January 19, 2009 at Piedmont Medical Center, Rock Hill. The funeral will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at First Baptist Church, Chester with Reverend Clay Waldrip officiating. Burial will be in Hebron Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Blackstock. A native of Chester County, Mrs. Rash was a daughter of the late John Thomas ?J.T.? McDonald and Kate Smith McDonald. She was a graduate of Great Falls High School and Winthrop College and a member of First Baptist Church of Chester where she formerly taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and worked in the Library and was also a Kids Club Volunteer. She was a retired elementary school teacher having taught school in Duncan, SC from 1947 through 1956 and in Chester City Schools from 1956 through 1967. She was the widow of James Mitchell Rash. Surviving is a brother, Sanford K. McDonald and his wife Betty Grant McDonald of Blackstock, SC, one sister Helen M. Cloninger of Blackstock, SC, a sister-in-law, Lavinia W. McDonald of Chester, SC and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Rash was preceded in death by a brother Thomas Elliott McDonald. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:30 Tuesday evening at Barron Funeral Home, 133 Wylie Street, Chester, SC 29706.
