Winston-Salem, NC: Ms. Evelyn Virginia “Polly” Brantley McCorkle, 97, formerly of Chester, SC, died Monday, August 7, 2017 at The Oaks at Forsyth Nursing & Rehab in Winston-Salem, NC.The funeral service will be 2:00 PM Thursday, August 10, 2017 at Barron Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Vaughn and Rev. Mickey Brantley officiating.The interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Chester, SC. Born September 29, 1919 in Chester County, SC, Mrs. McCorkle was a daughter of the late Charles Walter Brantley and Minnie Robinson Brantley.She attended the schools of Chester County and was retired from Springs Industries.Mrs. McCorkle was a member of Saluda Street Church of God where she taught Sunday School.She was also a member of the VFW.She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Wendy Francene McCorkle and five brothers and one sister. She is survived by one son, Kenneth J. McCorkle and his wife Carolyn of Clemmons, NC; five grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; one sister Ann Doster of Chester, SC and numerous nieces and nephews.
