CHESTER: Mrs. Eva Margaret Lathan Phillips, 92, died Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at Lexington Medical Center in West Columbia, SC.The funeral service will be 11:00 AM Saturday, December 5, 2015 at Armenia United Methodist Church with Rev. Eric Shepard officiating.The interment will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM Saturday, December 5, 2015 at Armenia United Methodist Church. Born February 14, 1923 in Chester County, SC, Mrs. Phillips was a daughter of the late James Clarence Lathan and Nannie Brakefield Lathan.She was a graduate of Chester High School and attended York Technical College.She was employed nineteen years with Springs Industries as a machine operator and with the South Carolina Probation and Parole Office for seventeen years.Mrs. Phillips was a member of Armenia United Methodist Church where she was active in all aspects of the church and the Methodist Women.She was the widow of Thomas Bryan Phillips. She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Adams and her husband Frank of Irmo, SC and Janet Clarke of Lawrenceville, GA; two grandchildren, Frank Adams, Jr. and his wife Tracy of Port Wentworth, GA and Kim Taylor and her husband Jerry of Lugoff, SC; three great grandchildren, Jeremy Adams, Christina Adams and Laurel Taylor; one great-great granddaughter, CheyAnn Adams; two brothers, Cecil Lathan of Tega Cay, SC and Charles Lathan of Chester, SC and one sister, Sarah Hargett of Chester, SC.In addition to her husband, Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Ann Lathan and two brothers, Donald and Henry Lathan.
