Ernest Thomas Mims

Chester Mr. Ernest Thomas Mims, Sr. died Monday, March 7, 2022 at MUSC Health Lancaster. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Mr. Mims was born May 12, 1952 in Burke County, NC and was a son of the late James Jasper Mims and Ellen Luceal Pressley. He was a graduate of Morganton High School in Morganton, NC. Big E was employed with D&C Trucking as a driver and was a retired Veteran of the US Air Force having served during the Gulf War. He is survived by his wife of over 14 years, Beverly Griffin Mims; four sons Ernie Mims, Jr. of Rock Hill, SC, Johnny “Bubba”, Joshua and Brandon all of Chester, SC; one daughter, Carley Mims of Chester, SC; mother-in-law, Joyce L. Hunter of Chester, SC; bother-in-law, Trey Hunter (Shannon) of Rock Hill, SC; Alison Partlow whom he loved as a daughter of Rock Hill, SC; granddaughter, Felisha M. Woodman (James) of Rock Hill, SC; grandson, Tyler Mims (Gabriella Loflin) of Norfolk, VA and his foxy red lab Sandy and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by six sisters and six brothers. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 ST. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
