Chester Mrs. Emogene Hunter Houston, 73, died Sunday, October 25, 2015, at her home.Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, October 27, 2015, at Freedom Ministries with Rev. Steve Bishop officiating.Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Tuesday at Freedom Ministries, 729 Village Dr., Chester, SC. Mrs. Houston was born July 21, 1942 in Chester, SC and was a daughter of the late Luther Hunter and Grace Moore Hunter.She was a graduate of Lewisville High School, was formerly employed with Springs Industries, and later owned and operated the Saluda Street Grill.Mrs. Houston enjoyed spending time with and cooking for her large family and many friends. She is survived by three sons, Jimmy D. “Danny” Houston, Jr. (Tammy), Thomas S. “Scott” Houston (Brenda), and Russell M. “Rusty” Houston; one daughter, Cheryl Bradley (Ricky); ten grandchildren, Melissa Houston, Brandi Bradley (John), Alex Houston (Whitney), Whitney Baker (Tyress), Tara McCarn (Curtis), Zachary Houston, Arianna Houston, Adrienne Houston, Jeremy Bradley, and Dakota Houston; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers and three sisters, Luther Hunter, Jr. of Chester, Betty Wallace of Camden, Lottie Sanders of Lancaster, Mary Lee Kirkland of Chester and Jessie Hunter (Christine) of Chesterfield; numerous nieces and nephews; and two special friends, Sharron (Gig) McKeown and Michele Haynes.Mrs. Houston was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Daniel Houston, Sr. and two brothers, Butch Hunter and Jim Hunter. She was a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend.
