Emily Dianne Welchel Jordan

Dianne Welchel Jordan, 78, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at her home in Chester. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, September 20, 2026, at Chester Freedom Ministries with Reverend Steve Bishop and Reverend Bill Stallings officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Chester Freedom Ministries from 2:00-3:00 on Sunday, September 20, 2026, prior to the service. All other times they will receive family and friends at the home of her son, Thomas at 1025 Quail Hollow Drive in Chester.

Born September 21, 1947, in Chester, South Carolina; Dianne was the daughter of the late Gordon Welchel and the late Ruth Welchel Howard. Dianne was a graduate of Chester High School. Over the years she worked for Campus Megastar, Runyan’s Jewelers, House of Distinction and Horizons Christian Academy all in Chester. Dianne loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; and spending time with her family. She was very close with her cousins and visited them often. Dianne spent her life in service to others, always there help and take them anywhere needed.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas L. Jordan, Sr. and two brothers, Walter Welchel and Randy Welchel. Dianne is survived by her son, Thomas Jordan (Gina) of Chester; daughter, Tammy Clayton (Allen) of Chesnee; granddaughters Bethany Lake (Zach) of Inman, SC; and Bailey Clayton (Cole) of Hickory, NC; grandsons, Ryan Jordan (Megan) and Tyler Jordan (Krista) and Kyler Jordan--all of Chester; great-grandsons, Jase Jordan, Mason Lake and Lawson Lake; and great-granddaughters, Millie Jordan, Scarlett Jordan, and Madilynn Lake; brother Tommy Howard of Chester, SC and brother Clarence Gordon Welchel of Rock Hill.
