CHESTER: Mr. Elmore Luther Fairfax, 89, died Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at Chester Regional Nursing Center. The funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Friday at First Church of the Nazarene with Reverend John Porter officiating. Interment will be held in Chester Memorial Gardens. A native of Fair Bluff, NC, Mr. Fairfax attended the schools of Fair Bluff, was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during WWII in the European Campaign, North Africa and Sicily. He was a POW in the German Camp and a recipient of the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star and many other medals. Mr. Fairfax was affiliated with the First Church of the Nazarene and was retired from Springs Industries as a doffer. Surviving are three sons; Steve Fairfax and his wife Linda of Chester, SC,Tim Fairfaxof Chester, SC,David Fairfax and his wife Kathy of Columbia, SC, eleven grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, one brother, Gary Fairfax of Spartanburg and one sister, Gladys Watts of Crestline, OH. He was the widower of Lottie Leonard Fairfax and was preceded in death by a grandson, Paul Fairfax. The family will receive friends Friday from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM Friday, October 30, 2009 at First Church of the Nazarene.
