Lancaster Mr. Elmer Gilbert, 94, died Friday, November 23, 2012 at White Oak Manor in Lancaster. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, November 26, 2012 at Barron Funeral Home with Reverend Les Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in Chester Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Sunday, November 25, 2012 at Barron Funeral Home, 133 Wylie Street, Chester, South Carolina 29706. Born December 22, 1917 in Mountain Valley, VA, he was a son of the Late James Peyton Gilbert and Annie Lee Jones Gilbert. Mr. Gilbert was the Widow of Lois Board Gilbert. He attended Mountain View Schools in Mountain Valley, VA and was employed with American Furniture Company in Martinsville, VA. Mr. Gilbert is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Ann Lawson of Martinsville, VA and Linda D. Dawkins and husband Marion of Blackstock, SC; A grandson Marion Randal Dawkins and several Nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by four brothers Edward, Glenn, Beaman and Lloyd; five sisters Ella, Sadie, Clara, Rudy and Frances and a special niece Judy Haley.
