Elizabeth Carol Watkins West

Elizabeth Carol Watkins West passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Sunday, August 27, 2023. Beth was born on August 13, 1964, in Chester, SC and was the daughter of the late William Harrison (Bill) Watkins, Sr. and Martha Carol Cox Watkins. She is a graduate of Chester High School and continued her education in the medical field achieving her nursing assistant certification in 1993. During her career, Beth served primarily with Dr. Jerry Robinson, Dr. Laurie Milatz in Chester, SC, and Dr. Kamran Borhanian in Rock Hill, SC. Those who knew her or worked with her knew of her devotion to caring for others. Beth belonged to the welcoming community of First Freewill Baptist Church in Chester, SC. She was an active member volunteering in children’s church, the youth group, the ladies auxiliary, and more. She graduated from the church’s Bible Institute, and was a steadfast volunteer at Hawthorn Christian Academy. Beth enjoyed traveling, especially to the beach. She loved shopping and spending time with her family. Beth had a heart for children, and gave freely of her time and energy to make sure each child she encountered knew they were loved. In addition to her parents, Beth was preceded in death by her two grandchildren, Treasure and Nolan West. She is survived by her husband of over 39 years, Robert Eugene West, her three children Avery West, Rob West, and LeAnne Howze; and three grandchildren, Layla, Will, and Holly Hope. She is also survived by her brother, Billy Watkins (Lorrie) of Saint Johns, FL. Beth is also loved and missed by her five sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hawthorne Christian Academy, 790 Hawthorne Road, Chester, SC 29706, as this ministry and mission was one Beth held close to her heart. Beth’s life will be celebrated at First Freewill Baptist Church at 790 Hawthorne Road, Chester, SC, by a receiving of family and friends on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at 10 am followed by a memorial service at 11 am.
