CHESTER, SC: Mrs. Doris Virginia Lankford Wade, 77, died Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at her residence.A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Chester Freedom Ministrieswith Rev. Rick Wade, Mr. Jim Wade and Mr. Donnie Wade officiating.The interment will be private.The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Chester Freedom Ministries. Born February 14, 1939 in Gaston County, NC, Mrs. Wade was the daughter of the late Lonzo Parks Lankford and Ruby Jo Chapman Lankford.She was a graduate of Chester High School and retired from Chester County Schools.She was a member of Chester Freedom Ministrieswhere she served on the Hostess committee. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.Doris loved doing for others and found that she could best serve God as she served others. She is survived by her husband of over fifty-five years, James R. “Jim” Wade, Sr; four children, Ricky Wade (Laura) of Union, SC, Kathy Harvey of Gaffney, SC and Donnie Wade (Tracy) and Michael Wade (Jamie) both of Chester; twelve grandchildren, Erin Griggs (Matt), Shannon Vaughn (Chris), Kaitlyn Wade, Jennifer Harvey, Amy Bishop (Jordan), Elizabeth Harvey, Hannah Wade, Corey Wade, Allie Wade, Rayden Whaley, Jon-Tyler Wade, A.J. Wade, Jacob Wade; special grandson, Justin Pender; two great-grandchildren, Zach and Mia; one brother, Dale Lankford (Velette) of Colorado and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Jay Harvey, a brother Donald Lankford, two sisters Martha Bochette and Mertis LeCroy.
