Houston, TX:Donnie Andrew Steen, 61,earned his angel wings on July 8th,2011 in Houston, Texas after an extended battle with cancer. A Memorial Service will be held 2:00PM Sunday, July 24, 2011 at First Baptist Church, Lowry?s with Reverend Michael Shaffer and Mr. Wayne Hatcher officiating. Donnie was born May 11,1950 in Chester South Carolina a son of Walter Mack Steen and Lillie Stephenson Steen. He enlisted in the United States Army on December 8,1969 in Fort Jackson, South Carolina where he completed basic training. He did advanced Individual Training in Fort Mon-mouth New Jersey as a radio electrician. He served active duty during the Vietnam War in Thailand performing communications. He was later reassigned to Fort Hood , Texas where he was honorably discharged with the rank of Spec 5 on January 26,1973. His decorations, medals and campaign ribbons awarded were the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam service Medal with two bronze service stars, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. After his discharge he moved to Houston Texas. While working for Tex-Fan, he met the love of his life. who also happened to be his boss. They married September 1, 1984. Donnie is survived by his soul mate of 28 years Rose Steen; Parents Walter Mack Steen and Lillie Stephenson Steen; two daughters Carrier Ancira and husband Adam; stepdaughter Michelle Strarup and husband Charles. Grandchildren Richey Johnson Jr. and wife Callye; Brittney Brown,Megan Brown,Maraena Johnson,Alyssa McDougall and husband Michael,Dylan Dowty,Courtney Sikel and Kimberly Ancira and two great-grandchildren Jayce and Wesley Johnson; one sister Joann McNeill and one brother Tommy Steen and his wife Darlene all of Chester, SC; one nephew, Chase Steen and his wife Crissy of Rock Hill, SC;two nieces,Kaelah Telligman and her husband John and Lindsey Smith and her husband Jason all of Chester, SC; two great nieces, Rylie Telligman and Keely Orr of Chester, SC ; three great nephews Maddox and Mason Steen of Rock Hill, SC and Colt Smith of Chester, SC.
