York: Mrs. Debra Gail Varnadore Mortensen, 62, died Tuesday, April 25, 2017.A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Hillcrest Baptist Church, York, SC, with Rev. Brad Vassey officiating .The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Hillcrest Baptist Church, York, SC. Interment will be private. Born July 10, 1954 in Fort Mill, SC, she was a daughter of Jack Varnadore and the late Nell Belk Varnadore and the widow of Eric Christian Mortensen.Mrs. Mortensen was a graduate of Fort Mill High School, a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and a homemaker.Debra was an active Christian.She spent much of her time ministering to ladies in prison and also looked forward to her mission trips with Constructors For Christ. In addition to her father, Jack Varnadore, she is survived by one daughter, Beverly Kring (Robert) of Harriman, TN; one son, Wayne Ellis of Wartburg, TN; two grandchildren, Katie Kring and Kinley Kring both of Harriman, TN; and Debra’s extended family, AprilSowle and her three children, Sam, Lacy, and Kassidy whom Debra loved and cared for as her own; and one sister, Lynn Whitner (Lyle) of Summerville, SC.
