CHESTER: Mr. David Daniel Small, 91, died Friday, January 8, 2016 at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill, SC.The funeral service will be 3:00 PM Sunday, January 10, 2016 at Restoring Hope Four Square Gospel Church with Pastor Rob Noland officiating.The interment will be in Chester Memorial Gardens.The family will receive friends from 1:30 – 3:00 PM Sunday, January 10, 2016 at Restoring Hope Four Square Gospel Church, 157 Pinckney Street, Chester, SC. Born July 22, 1924 in Kershaw County, SC, Mr. Small was the son of the late Charlie S. Small and Nellie Hinson Small.He attended the schools of Kershaw County and was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during WWII.Following in his footsteps, all four sons of Mr. Small have served in the United States Military.Mr. Small was retired from Springs Industries and also sold produce in the Chester Community for over thirty years.He was a charter member of Restoring Hope Four Square Gospel Church where he played bass guitar and he also enjoyed playing the harmonica. Mr. Small had a passion for gardening.He will always be remembered by family and friends for his work ethic and his humble disposition. He is survived by his wife of over forty-six years, Mary Sue Sims Terry Small; three sons, Douglas Dean Small of Lexington, SC, Richard Todd Small and his wife Frankie Anne of Apollo Beach, FL and Ricky Lee Terry and his wife Becky of Chester, SC; three daughters, Cynthia Pitts of Lancaster, SC, Lorrie Fitzgerald and her husband Clinton of Rocky Mount, VA and Wanda Partain and her husband Malcolm of Blackstock, SC; granddaughter, Rita Pitts of the home; fourteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; two brothers, Charles Small of Hartsville, SC and Lloyd Small of Lancaster, SC; three sisters, Alma Hurst of Catawba, SC, Gladys Pierce of Catawba, SC and Von Blackmon of Pageland, SC.Mr. Small was preceded in death by one son, Judson Wayne Small, one daughter, Pamela Sue Terry Wages, three brothers, Ansel, Ira and Tommy Small, two sisters, Ann Small Woodle and Mae Small Paul.
