David Earl Peterson

CHARLOTTE, NCRetired Lt. Colonel David Earl Peterson, Jr., 80, died Thursday, October 6, 2011 at his residence.A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Monday, October 10, 2011 at Evergreen Cemetery in Chester, SC with Rev. Steve Bishop officiating.Born August 8, 1931 in Chester, SC, Mr. Peterson was a son of the late David E. Peterson, Sr. and Mary Wall Peterson.He was a graduate of Lancaster High School and Clemson College.He was a retired Lt. Colonel of US Air Force, having served during the Korean War.He also served in theAir Force Reserves and was involved in ROTC.He retired as a vice president of Arkwright-Boston Manufacturers Insurance Company and was previously employed with Southern Railways as an engineer.He loved the beauty of nature and was an accomplished musician. Mr. Peterson was the widow of Nancy Carroll Peterson.He is survived by two daughters, Mary Peterson Davis of Charlotte and Carroll Peterson of Winston-Salem, NC and one grandson, Ryan Davis of Charlotte.
