David Michael Fairfax
December 21, 1954 – August 17, 2026
On August 17, 2026, at the age 71, Mr. David Michael Fairfax passed away after an extremely difficult, but courageous battle with cancer and dementia. A Celebration of Life will be held at 6:00 pm, Thursday, August 20,2026 at Barron Funeral Home with Reverend Kevin Taylor officiating. Family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Barron Funeral Home prior to the service.
A native of Chester County, Mr. Fairfax was a son of the late Elmore & Lottie Leonard Fairfax. He was a graduate of Chester Senior High School and was retired from Springs Industries. A devoted husband, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who took great pride in landscaping and caring for his home and yard. He grew beautiful flowers & thoroughly enjoyed doing so. David had a deep fascination of history and visiting historical sites, especially battlegrounds and has passed that interest down to his children & grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sweetheart, Kathaleen McMurray Fairfax, whom he had lovingly cared for during her battle with dementia; and his brother, Tim Fairfax. Surviving are his two sons, Scottie Fairfax (Kelly) of Richburg, SC, Wayne Fairfax (Kristin) of Fort Lawn, SC and four daughters, Sarah Evans (James) of Chester, SC , Michelle Allman (Nate) of Lexington, SC, Kristy Applen (Don) of Ridgeway, SC and Jennifer Bigham (Buddy) of Great Falls, SC; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Steve Fairfax (Linda) of Chester, SC ; one aunt, Dot Gaston of Chester, SC; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and family friend “Neighbor James” who helped with transportation and caring for his home.
The family would like to express sincere gratitude to the staff of Atrium Health Hospice & Palliative Care in Monroe, NC for the compassionate care given to their Dad in his last days. He will be greatly missed every day, but we take comfort knowing he is at peace with his Savior and reunited with Kathy.
