CHESTER Mr. D. Joe Byars, 86, of 835 Pine Ridge Road, died September 22, 2009 at his residence. The funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Friday at Parkway Baptist Church with Rev. Eric Winstead officiating. Interment will be in Chester Memorial Gardens. Born May 13, 1923 in Chester County, SC, Mr. Byars was the son of the late Marshall Martin Byars, Sr. and Pauline Bellue Byars.He attended the schools of Chester County and was retired from Springs Industries.He was aUS Navy WWII veteran and a member ofAmerican Legion Post 27 and former Scout Master of Troop 67. He is survived by his wife, Mae B. Byars; two sons, Tom Byars and his wife Jan, Jimmy Byars and his wife Dinah all of Chester; two grandchildren, Chad Byars and his wife Kim,Elizabeth Duncan and her husband Chad all of Chester; one great granddaughter, Meredith ?The Baby? Byars of Chester.He was preceded in death by a daughter Dorries Sue Byars of Chester. The family will receive friends from 6:00 ? 7:30 PM Thursday at Barron Funeral Home, 133 Wylie Street, Chester.
