York Mrs. Cynthia Moss Johnson, 69, died Sunday, March 8, 2020 at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, SC. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, March 12, 2020 at Ridge Baptist Church, 3818 Old York Road, Gastonia, NC with Rev. Tommy McFalls and Rev. Mike Ivey officiating. Interment will follow in Gaston Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM Thursday, March 12 in the sanctuary of Ridge Baptist Church. Mrs. Johnson was born October 23, 1950 in Gastonia, NC and was a daughter of the late Alfred Woodrow Moss and Alice Faye Wells Moss. She was a graduate of Hunter Huss High School and the University of North Carolina in Charlotte. Mrs. Johnson was a retired English Teacher with 35 years of service. She was a pastor’s wife and a devout Christian and she served her church faithfully in many capacities including the church Pianist at Common Ground Baptist Church in York, SC where she was a member. She is survived by three children; Julie Brown (Terence) and Patrick Johnson both of York, SC, and Seth Johnson (Anna) of Chester, SC; grandchildren, Emily and Megan Whichard of York, SC, Aubrey and Carter Johnson of Chester, SC; two sisters, Debbie Dills (Jerry) of Gastonia, NC and Kathy Smith of Cherryville, NC; several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Leonard Johnson.
